You’ve officially been invited to join us for supper at WGG.
Once a mechanic shop, now a cultural institution and gathering space located on a multi-generational homeplace in central North Carolina. Every supper is unique, and based on what our community of farmers and the land have available. Our menu is focused on seasonal abundance, cultural storytelling and folklore all through the lens of Ancestral preservation, live fire cooking and rural tradition from all over the Carolinas and beyond.
This supper, we will be taking a trip to the waters of Eastern North Carolina, specifically the Outer Banks. A long system of barrier islands protecting the coast. A safe haven for Black folk during the civil war and the homeland of several bands of Algonquian speaking peoples. From there we will journey west, to the Appalachian mountain range that connects us to Virginia, Georgia and Tennessee. Then back home, where sweet potatoes and tobacco still tell the stories of our kin folk who worked these red clay soils.
Collaborator Kennedi Carter will be archiving this series on-site with a special portraiture activation. Confirmed guests will receive a link to book a session, limited walk ups available.
