In celebration of the open of Woodard’s Garage & Grocery, we are hosting an after-hours function, featuring live music by Lance Scott and Friends, a dime-store photo activation by Kennedi Carter, and hot fish or bbq with AfroCarolinian accoutrements. Come commemorate this special moment with us from 9pm - 12am.
After our opening dinner service from 7-9pm, we will hit the yard and usher in a new era for Woodard’s Garage, with a night of enjoyments under the open sky. This ticket grants you access to the Juke Joint and a plate at the counter, does not include the opening supper at 7pm. The sweetshop opens at 9pm, bring cash.
Throughout much of the twentieth century, dime-store portraits were among the most accessible forms of photography available to black families. These photographs became keepsakes, markers of celebration, and the everyday. Secure your session here, limited walk ups available.
